Libri Finti Clandestini

Libri Finti Clandestini is a cosmopolitan collective that bases its work and research on artist’s books.

The project was born with the aim of creating real books using only “paper found around”, the paper that people normally consider garbage: in fact, exploiting materials with the most heterogeneous pedigree possible (coming from abandoned factories, laboratories around Europe, libraries, warehouses, paper mills, archives and printing …) the project came to life with the creation of books and sketchbooks patiently assembled one by one, hand-bound, stamped, numbered and entrusted to the hands of illustrators, printers and artists to be “completed” or proposed to an audience that decides its fate: ready to be written, drawn or to assume any other meaning the owner gives it .

Subsequently, the production (also) focused on the production of one-copy books and small pop-up editions, whose bizarre characters from an imaginary of the late 19th / early 20th century move and come to life when the pages are opened.

The main feature of the project is the creation process with (almost) zero impact on the environment, thus investigating and experimenting in the context of the circular economy.

Therefore, dedicating a lot of time and attention to the research of materials for their reuse, over the years, after the participation at

some international fairs such as Tokyo Art Book Fair, Taipei Art Book Fair and Chicago Art Book Fair, SPRINT Milano, I Never Read Art Book Fair Basel, Toronto Art Book fair and more, the project has expanded towards other artistic directions, in addition to the editorial one, always under the banner of experimentation, investigating fields of photograph, letterpress printing and the exploration of urban space.
