Since 2006, Askeaton Contemporary Arts (ACA) commission, produce and exhibit contemporary art in the locale of a small town in County Limerick, Ireland. An artist residency programme situates Irish and international artists in the midst of Askeaton each summer, while thematic exhibitions, events, media productions and publications occur.
They are an artist initiative and sustained by communities around them in Ireland and further afield.
From this impetus, A.C.A. PUBLIC, an independent imprint was established in 2014. With over a dozen titles, they place an emphasis on artists and writers who have an interest and developed research in site-specific and approaches of placemaking, and with practitioners who urgently consider themes of the environment and societal structures.
