Offset Projects

Offset Projects is an artist-led initiative by photographer Anshika Varma, working to create channels of engagement in photography and book-making through artist talks, workshops, residencies, curated reading rooms and collaborative exercises in publishing. The initiative runs a photo book library, the Offset Pitara, which has been creating active interventions in looking at the photo book as a form in its own right. The library has been carefully curated by its founder to bring forward books from the South Asia and beyond from young practitioners to experienced artists, bookmakers and authors. We believe that story telling lies at the heart of human creative energy. As a publisher, in 2022 they released their first publication, Guftgu, the first of its kind deconstructed photobook featuring works by ten contemporary lens practitioners from South Asia. Apart from its own publication, their practice is informed by encouraging and supporting individual artists to be authors and publishers of their works.
