White Fungus
White Fungus is an independent arts magazine based in Taiwan. It started in 2004 as an intended one-off staple-bound political zine but has since evolved into a print magazine that covers art, music, history, and politics. The magazine’s name comes from a can of “white fungus” that the publication’s founders, Mark Hanson and Ron Hanson, found in their local Taichung City supermarket in 2003. White fungus is a local delicacy in Taiwan believed to have medicinal properties. Each cover of the magazine is derived from a scan of that can.
