One meter squared, workshop with Éireann Lorsung
Date: Saturday 15 July
Location: Meet at The Library Project
Duration: 1 hour
Free, booking required via Eventbrite
We will use drawing and writing so it will be useful for participants to bring their own media (a few coloured pencils, a small watercolour kit, pencils, or ink—whatever is comfortable, and something to write/draw on.
In this workshop, participants offer attention to hyperlocal environments (the pavement, the cracks between stones in a wall), as a way to redirect artistic practice from assumptions about what we see and back toward the facts of where we are.
The outcomes of this exercise are:
- A model of careful attention to the ordinary which participants can rework in their own practices;
- A specific instance of this practice, yielding an experience of patient and steady perception as well as a written record of place and time;
- Group discussion following the exercise.
